An Ellabell man was arrested for allegedly hitting and killing a pedestrian with his Ford F-250 pickup while driving through Savannah on Friday, Aug. 7.
According to the police report, Ellabell resident Donald Lamar Pippin, 42, was arrested at his home and is being charged with first degree homicide by vehicle, drunken driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to maintain lane.
Police reportedly responded to a call on Fort Argyle Road in Savannah around 11 p.m., where they found the body of Bloomingdale resident Dena Lee Sargent, 53, lying in the road.
Authorities said Georgia State Patrol troopers and Bryan County sheriff’s deputies tracked Pippen to his residence shortly after the incident.
Pippin remains in Chatham County jail with no bond while awaiting a court date of Aug. 20.
