An accident at the intersection of Hwys. 17 and 196 Friday afternoon claimed the lives of two and injured another.

According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Joel Mock, a green Lincoln Town Car driven by Ruby Brown, 75 of Hinesville, was attempting to cross Hwy. 17 from 196 and failed to yield to the tractor trailer traveling south down Hwy. 17. The truck hit the car and Mock said both Brown and her husband William, 78, were killed instantly.

He said the driver of the tractor trailer was taken Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah but was in good condition.

The wreck happened just before 2 p.m. just past the Bryan County line in Liberty County.
