Events before, during and after July 4 await Bryan County residents who want to celebrate Independence Day. Locals will have their choice of several events to choose from, including:
Family fun at J.F. Gregory Park in Richmond Hill
The city of Richmond Hill’s annual Independence Day celebration is on Saturday, June 29, at J.F. Gregory Park.
The free event is always held the Saturday before July 4.
The fun begins at 4:30 p.m. and concludes around 10 p.m. with a fireworks display.
There will be food vendors, free inflatables and entertainment by The Tams.
Fort Stewart concert featuring Lady Antebellum
Fort Stewart invites the neighboring communities to join the soldiers and families Thursday, July 4 for a free Independence Day concert on Donovan Field followed by a spectacular fireworks display.
The concert features seven-time Grammy Award winner Lady Antebellum with special guest Caroline Jones. Gates open at 3 p.m., the show starts at 7 and fireworks follow at 10.
The event will feature family-friendly activities like a rock-climbing wall, quad jumper and multiple bounce houses with $5 wristbands for all access. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from local food vendors.

Fort McAllister’s Old Fashioned Independence Day celebration
Fort McAllister, a 1,725-acre Georgia state park and home to the best-preserved earthwork fortification of the Confederacy, will host an Old Fashioned Independence Day Celebration, Saturday, July 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Living historians will demonstrate Civil War drills with rifle and cannon firings. Visitors can join in on old-timey games such as tug-a-war, sack racing, and Civil War-era baseball. As part of the annual tradition, there will be watermelon slices to enjoy.
The cost is $9 for adults, $8 for seniors over 62, $5 for ages 6-17. Five and under are free. There is also a $5 parking fee.
Fort McAllister State Historic Park is located at 3894 Fort McAllister Road in Richmond Hill.
