Coastal Electric Cooperative was still working to restore power to some neighborhoods in Bryan, Liberty, Long and McIntosh counties around 7 p.m. Monday night, according to spokesman Mark Bolton.

Bolton said at one point more than 3,000 customers in the four-county area were without power after powerful storms rolled in early Monday morning. By 7 p.m. most of the power had been restored, although there were scattered areas in Bryan and Liberty still without power.

Bolton said the company, which has brought in help from Lee Electric and Asplundh to help speed up work, hoped to have all of Bryan County restored by Monday night and then those crews would move to help in Liberty County, where some lines will have to be completely rebuilt.

“We may have some outages remaining into tomorrow,” Bolton said Monday night. “Please be patient with our crews as we work to get power restored as quickly as possible.”
