Three hundred get energy assistance

More than 300 Bryan County households applied for and received assistance from the 2013 Energy Assistance Program, resulting in more than $100,000 spent in the area.
According to a news release, 326 households applied and qualified for the Energy Assistance Program, and $110,940 was spent in the community, offsetting the high cost of heating bills. The 2013 program closed recently.
The Coastal Georgia Area Community Action Authority Inc. assisted eligible households with heating bills this winter. Payments were made directly to the home energy supplier.
