Parker’s recently donated $10,000 in gas cards to Memorial Health Foundation to help defray the cost for patients and their families to travel to Memorial University Medical Center for chemotherapy, radiation treatment or neonatal care.

Parker’s President and CEO Greg Parker said many patients to Memorial and the Anderson Cancer Institute travel for hours for care, making fuel a major economic challenge.

“These gas cards allow patients to focus on healing,” he said, “not on whether they can afford gas to get back and forth to treatment.”
The donation is part of Parker’s Fueling the Community program, which also supports area schools.

According to the company’s website, Parker’s, which opened its first store in Midway, has 27 stores in Georgia and South Carolina.
