For Bryan County's first responders, it's time for Christmas in July
BCN Christmas in July

Local first responders are hoping to help fill stockings that might otherwise go empty this Christmas.

To that end, Bryan County Fire and Emergency Services, Bryan County Sheriff’s Office and Bryan County Family Connection have combined for a Christmas in July fundraiser.

Bryan Fire and EMS Battalion Chief Victoria Pape said the effort is in part a response to the April 5 tornado, which battered portions of North Bryan, and in part an attempt to meet a significant and growing need in the community.

Pape said the tornado “left many families with little to nothing,” and has added approximately 50 children to those who rely on Bryan County Family Connection’s Children’s Fund.

Given that money can be tight for many families as the holidays grow near, Pape said a July fundraiser may help those who want to donate be able to give. It’ll also provide Wendy Futch, head of Bryan County Family Connection, time to take stock of what toys they have in order to focus on specific needs and requests.

A wish list is posted on the Bryan County Fire and Emergency Services Facebook Page, and Pape noted Amazon Prime Days are July 12-13.

Donations items not on the wish list can be mailed to Christmas in July, 5995 Hwy. 204, Ellabell, GA 31308. Monetary donations can be mailed to the same address, c/o Battalion Chief Pape. Make checks out to Family Connection, memo: Christmas in July.
