August 11 

Abandoned Vehicle

• Deputy dispatched to a possible intoxicated driver. Upon arrival, the deputy found a white Honda Civic in the roadway. Bystanders told the deputy that the driver had run off before, leaving the vehicle in the roadway. Since the vehicle was in the roadway and no one was aware of its owner’s location, it was towed.

DUI - less safe (alcohol), reckless driving

• While on patrol, a deputy observes “a gray vehicle pull out of a commercial business with a known bar in the plaza, accelerating hard, causing its rear tires to spin and white smoke to come from the tires”. The deputy then activated emergency equipment, and when the deputy caught up to the vehicle, a traffic stop was conducted. Driver placed under arrest for reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Abandoned Vehicle

• Abandoned vehicle found on 144 East, past Mcallister Road. Tag registration expired in 2019.

DUI - less safe (alcohol), open container of alcohol in motor vehicle, failure to notify owner upon striking a fixed object, failing to maintain lane, impeding the flow of traffic

• Driver arrested for the above charges.

August 12 

DUI - less safe (alcohol), no driver’s license/unlicensed operator

• Driver arrested for the above charges.

DUI - less safe (drugs), seat belt violation

• Driver arrested for the above charges.

Hit and run

• Deputy dispatched to Hyundai Mega-Site in response to a hit-and-run. A semi-truck was said to have hit a person and left the scene.

Financial transaction fraud

• Man reports fraudulent activity on his credit card while at a Shell gas station on Hwy 144. The store manager explained that this incident is expected, as some banks can pre-authorize cards up to $500.00 when customers pay through the pump. The manager added that the pre-authorization amount will show as pending and will often be released within 48 hours and/or depending on the bank. The manager then said that she usually suggests her customers pay inside to avoid pre-authorization.

Impeding the flow of traffic, no driver’s license/unlicensed operator

• While on routine patrol in the area of Hwy 280 and S Main St., a deputy was attempting to turn left onto Hwy 280 when a white van was also on Main Street opposing him. The van was not signaling to turn and was just stopped at the green light with traffic behind them while the deputy was signaling to turn left. The vehicle would not proceed so the deputy made a left hand turn and the vehicle proceeded behind him, turning right onto Hwy 280. The deputy stopped and allowed the van to pass to stop the vehicle. The deputy then activated emergency blue lights and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, stopping it on Hwy 280 in front of EnMarket .Driver found to not have a valid license and was placed under arrest, cited for the above offenses.

August 13

 Failure to yield while turning left, no driver’s license/unlicensed operator, no insurance, seat belt violation, failure to dim headlights • Driver arrested, given citations for the above offenses.

Theft by taking - felony

• Man reports stolen equipment from a store.

Abandoned vehicle

• Deputy was dispatched to US Highway 17 at Cartertown Road in reference to an abandoned vehicle partially obstructing the roadway. Vehicle was a Black Ford Fusion with a Georgia tag. Vehicle was parked in the turn lane of US Highway 17 South turning into Cartertown Road, partially obstructing the turn lane. Car was towed.

Domestic dispute

• Deputies dispatched to a domestic dispute between a juvenile and her mother.

No driver’s license/unlicensed operator, failure to obey authorized person, no insurance, tag registration requirements, removing or affixing license plate with intent to conceal or misrepresent

• Driver arrested, charged with the above offenses.

Damage to property

• Deputy dispatched to I-16 Eastbound near Mile Marker 146 in reference to debris on the roadway. Upon arrival, the deputy came into contact with multiple aluminum pieces in the roadway. The deputy was able to remove the debris from the roadway without any incident. While removing the debris, dispatch advised of a vehicle located at the Loves Truck Stop that struck the debris and wanted to file a report for the damage caused. Driver advised as she was traveling East on I-16, she ran over a piece of aluminum in the roadway. Driver then advised that when she ran over the piece, it caused damage to the front end of her vehicle.
