It’s the time of year when the days start to get sultry, the air thick with humidity, and Arts On the Coast hosts its annual juried art show.

The 2018 exhibits’ theme “Connected to the Sea” is an exploration from the artists’ view of how and why the waters surrounding us are so unique and special.

Arts On the Coast is partnering with the Ogeechee Riverkeeper for its 2018 show.

“AOC believes it is important to support local organizations and in keeping with our theme this year what better group than the riverkeeper,” a release from the group said. “Participating artists are donating 25 percent of any sales made during the opening reception to the Ogeechee Riverkeeper.

Representatives from the River Keepers will be on hand to answer questions about their group.

The reception, open to the public, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. June 28 at Photopoint Gallery at the corner of  Ga 144 and Cherokee Street. Light finger foods and beverages will be available. The show hangs through Sept. 8.

During the reception, each participating artist will be available for a meet and greet.

This is a chance to meet, get to know, and support your local arts community.

All mediums will be represented.

Everyone attending the reception will get the chance to judge and vote on their favorite piece of work for a People’s Choice Award; to be announced at 7:30 the evening of the reception.

Prior to the opening reception three independant judges will award first, second, third and honorable mention prizes to the artwork best fulfilling the theme of the show.

Arts On the Coast is a non-profit 501C3. Its purpose is to support and nurture the local arts community.

Creating opportunities for a more connected community through a strong cultural affairs presence is an asset to the community, businesses, and quality of life.
