2020 Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival to be in November

Bryan County’s largest party won’t be held in October this fall. Instead, the Richmond Hill Bryan County Chamber of Commerce announced it is moving the Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival, one of the Coastal Empire’s largest annual events, to the first full weekend in November.

That’s Nov. 6-8, if you’re marking your 2020 calendar. And it’s also sort of going back to some roots, since the early festivals were reportedly held in November. As for why the date change, blame it on hurricane season. And high school football.

“Our goal was to get closer to the end of hurricane season and out of October, since that seems to be the busy hurricane season for our area,” RHBC Chamber Director Kathryn Johnson said. “We also are excited about the new date because the (Richmond Hill High School) football team is off that weekend.”

The event will remain in J.F. Gregory Park, according to the Chamber.
