For Sharon and Craig Butts of Unity in the Community, a community is not an entity of its own, and the owner and employees of Plantation Lumber and Hardware in Richmond Hill understand that idea.

Unity in the Community recently awarded a certificate of appreciation to Kevin Keith of Plantation Lumber for his continued work with the organization.  Their support began with the early festivals that Unity in the Community hosted in J.F. Gregory Park five years ago.  Now, they supply Unity in the Community with tables and chairs for events every third Saturday and Sunday on Rousakis Plaza on River Street in Savannah.

But the level of community support from Plantation Lumber does not stop there.  They help the Boy Scouts and other nonprofit organizations, as well.

“We just like to help the community,” Keith said.  “We give to the community and the community gives back to us.”

Unity in the Community’s events are free to the public, and the next is set for April 15-16 on River Street in Savannah. Every third Saturday, come out and visit with arts and crafts vendors and enjoy the live entertainment from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and from 11 a.m. 6 p.m. Sundays.

Unity in the Community is a nonprofit, 501c3 organization.  For more information, visit www.unityinthecommunity.org.
