CROWLEY, Louisiana The photo of a police officer carrying a lost boy at a festival in Louisiana recently went viral.

Officer David Taylor of the Crowley Police Department carried the boy on his shoulders and in his arms for about 30 minutes while searching for his mother, according to local TV news station KLFY. The boy apparently felt so comfortable that he fell asleep in the officers arms.

He helped the little boy for quite a while until he found the mother and that was just really great to see, festival attendee Betty Thomas told KLFY. He was just showing him the sights and holding him and keeping him comfortable.

The act of kindness took place at the International Rice Festival, which was held Thursday through Sunday. Someone at the event snapped a photo of the officer and boy and posted it to social media, drawing more than 5,000 likes as of Monday. National media outlets like CNN and ABC picked up the story.

Taylor, for his part, said he was just doing his job. He said any other officer would have done the same thing in his place, someone just happened to take a photo in this case.

(The boy) was extremely upset ... I put him on my shoulders to see if he would be able to see his parents, Taylor told ABC. He started to fall asleep, and I moved him down to my chest.

Taylor doesnt know the name of the boy or his mother, who were happily united at the festival.
