New 'Deadpool' animated series announced, but it probably won't be for children

A new superhero cartoon show was announced Wednesday, but its not for children. reported that FXX announced an untitled Deadpool animated series.

Donald Glover, the Golden Globe-winning actor and creator of the show Atlanta, will serve as one of the showrunners, according to

FX said the show, which will have a 10-episode first season, will be an adult action-comedy.

Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist wholl bring the untitled Marvels Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit 'Atlanta,' said Nick Grad, president of original programming, in a statement. With the success of 'Legion,' were looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.

Jeph Loeb, who is the head of Marvel Television and executive producer on another FX show "Legion," said Glover is perfect for the raunchy superhero character.

"How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth!" added Loeb. "We're thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with 'Legion' continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation."

The 2016 Deadpool movie made headlines for its adult comedy. Multiple reviews said the film, which started Ryan Reynolds as the titular character, was littered with profanity and sexually explicit jokes, according to the Deseret News.

Your child may have this idea that Deadpool isn't all that bad because the character has made a number of appearances in cartoons over the years, KFVS-12 reported. But the movie was decidedly not family-friendly.
