Registration has begun for men's and women's company-level intramural sports basketball league play. Games are scheduled to begin Dec. 6 and continue each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
Registration will close Nov. 23 at 4 p.m. Those interested in competing should contact the Fort Stewart Sports Office at 912-767-8238. There is no charge.
Games will be played at Newman Fitness Center or Caro Gym and are scheduled to start at 6 and 7 p.m.

The Rock Big Bench Press Competition sign-ups
Early registration will continue through Nov. 26 for The Rock Big Bench Press Competition, scheduled Dec. 4 at Newman Fitness Center. Weigh-ins will be from 8-9:30 a.m. and the competition begins at 10.
There will be team and open competition in various weight classes. Battalions are encouraged to enter teams of 10-12 lifters. In the open competition, winners will be determined by weight classes, and each participant will get three attempts to lift maximum weight.
U.S. Power Lifting Federation rules will apply. Competitors must be 16 years old to enter. Lifting shirts and gloves will be allowed.
The cost during early registration is $10 per person. The cost for late registration, from Nov. 27 to the day of competition, will be $12.

Thanksgiving Turkey Bowl at Hunter Lanes
Come on out to Hunter Lanes, building 1280, from now until Nov. 20 and try your luck at winning a turkey anytime lanes are available. Men, bowl across 10 lanes and knock down nine pins or more to win. Ladies, bowl across 10 lanes and knock down eight pins or more to win. The cost is $3 per person. Win a Holiday Turkey or Ham
Every Thursday during November and December, test your shooting skills starting at 5 p.m. at the Fort Stewart Skeet/Trap Range at Holbrook Pond. You just might take home a turkey or ham.
There are four ways to compete:
Standard paper plate target with small dot in the center. Shoot from a sitting position. Shooter with most pellets in center dot wins. Cost is $3.
Get 5 paintball shots on the poker board. Best five-card poker hand wins. Several mystery prizes are hidden on the board. Cost is $5.
Trap turkey shoot. All shooters will begin at position 1. Those who hit their target will move to position 2. Shooters who miss will have an opportunity to buy back into this game for $1, but will have to hit the target from position 1 to continue. Last shooter left will be the winner. Cost is $5.
Bad guy paintball shoot. Five shots on the poster with designated scoring areas. Most total points wins prize. The cost is $5.

Open paintball play at Hunter
Open paintball play is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hotel 6 Training Area off Perimeter Road on Hunter Army Airfield.
Several different woods play scenarios will be presented on several different fields. Participants must be at least 12 years old to play. Players 12 to 15 years old must be accompanied by parent or guardian.
Early registration is $20. Registration on the day of the event is $25. Fees include markers, mask, air and 500 paintballs. Additional paint will be available for sale on site.
Pre-register at the Outdoor Recreation Facility, building 8454. All participants must execute a hold harmless agreement. Mask and close-toed shoes will be required at all times.

Hours Change at Golf Courses
Hours of operation at Taylors Creek Golf Course and Hunter Golf Club changed when Daylight Savings Time ended on Sunday.
Hours are:
Monday-Thursday - Taylors Creek opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m. Hunter Golf Club opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m.
Friday, Saturday, Sunday and federal holidays - both courses open at 7:30 a.m. and close at 5:30 p.m.

Baby Loves Disco
Baby Loves Disco, an afternoon dance party featuring real music spun and mixed by real deejays blending disco tunes from the '70s and '80s set for today, has been sold it. It must have been that rerun of "Saturday Night Fever" last week that got all those toddlers up on the dance floor.

Pass & Permit Second Wildlife Photo Contest
Registration continues and the photo turn-in deadline is Nov. 30 for the Wildlife Photo Contest to be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 8 at Stewart Pass & Permit Office, building 8093.
The theme is wildlife photography. Please, no photos of pets. Photo dimensions are four by six inches or larger and there is no limit to the quantities entered.
There will be only one prize awarded per person for first, second and third place in the age groups 2-5, 6-10, 11-15 and 16 and older. A separate award for active duty Soldiers will be awarded.
The contest is open to amateur photographers and entry fees are $5 (ages 2-15) per photo and $10 (ages 16 and older) per photo.

Thanksgiving Storytime at Library

Shangri-Law Chinese Acrobats
The Shangri-La Chinese Acrobats, whose performances have been described by critics as "incredible," "breathtaking," "stunning," and "quite unbelievable," will perform at the Newman Fitness Center on Fort Stewart at 7 p.m. Nov. 18.
Tickets are available at Leisure Travel Services building 419 in the PX Furniture Mall complex. Prices are $10 (ages 6 & older), $5 (ages 3-5) and Free (ages 2 & under).
The show is being sponsored by the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation in partnership with the Hinesville Arts Council.
This is the 31st North American Tour by the Shangri-La Chinese Acrobats.
Chinese acrobatics are more than just a series of stunts and offer more than a glimpse into the traditions of the Orient. The show, for all ages, consists of sensational Chinese acrobatics, balancing feats, martial arts displays, and more.

Basketball Turkey Shootout
Register by Nov. 19 for the Basketball Turkey Shootout, scheduled for 1 p.m. Nov. 20 at Jordan Youth Gym, building 608.
The Turkey Shootout will consist of a 3 on 3 basketball tournament for age groups 11-18, a 3-point shootout and a 2-ball competition for age groups 8-18.

Big Buck Contest Registration Extended
The registration deadline for the annual Big Buck Contest has been extended by Pass and Permit to Dec. 15. The cost to enter remains the same - $25 per person.
Two bucks may be entered, but only one will be scored. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place winner. A cash award, deer mount and a free hunt/fish pass will be awarded to the Active Duty Soldier with the highest buck scoring.
Register at the Fort Stewart or Hunter Army Airfield Pass & Permit Office. The Stewart office is in building 8093 and the Hunter office is in building 1286.
