Christmas Tree Lighting at Hunter
Holiday music will fill the air and the Christmas tree outside Hunter Club will come to life at the flip of a switch during the annual tree lighting ceremony starting at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 8.
Santa will be around the tree, available for photos with kids. There is no charge. Parents and others with the children are reminded to bring their cameras.
The 3rd Infantry Division Band will play and local school choirs will perform at the start of both events.

Youth Action Council Facebook Meeting
A Youth Action Council Facebook meeting will be held from 5-6 p.m. Dec. 8.
The meeting will let teens discuss issues concerning their quality of life on Fort Stewart. The meeting is open only to military-connected teens whose parents are stationed at Fort Stewart.

Hayride at Lotts Island, Hunter
Lott's Island will be decorated in its holiday finest for a Hayride around the island on Dec. 9. The fun starts at 6 p.m. and continues until 9. Take the hayride to see the lights. The FMWR mini-train will be there, and a holiday movie will be shown under the stars. The cost will be $5 per family or $1 per person.
Hot dogs, snacks and drinks will be sold for a nominal fee.
The Lotts Island light display will continue Dec. 10 and Dec. 11 for families to drive around and view. For more information, call 912-315-2019.

German Favorites on Thunder Run Menu
German favorites, one of the four Internationally Inspired Cuisine Night offerings, are on the menu Wednesday at Club Stewart's Thunder Run restaurant.
American, Italian and Latin favorites also are on the rotating menu.
Service is every Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Thunder Run. The cost is $9.95 per adult and half-price for children ages 5-10. There is no charge for children 4 and under.

Trees for Troops at Stewart/Hunter
The Christmas Spirit Foundation, FedEx and local growers join FMWR in efforts to make the holidays merrier for soldiers and their families. Last year, 375 live trees were distributed free on a first-come, first-served basis.
The trees will be distributed at noon Dec. 9 at Newman Fitness Center on Stewart and the Squires Sports Complex Parking Lot at Hunter.

MLK Basketball Tournament
The first of what is to become the annual Martin Luther King Basketball Tournament will be at Newman Fitness Center from Jan. 13-15.
Registration is under way.
The competition will consist of a round-robin, team seeding play, with a maximum of 12 teams. The tournament also will include a slam dunk contest and a 3-point shootout.
Entry for military costs $150 per team. The cost for non-military competitors is $200 per team. The cost is $10 per individual for the slam dunk and 3-point contests.
All teams must be signed up by Jan. 6 and must present a roster with a minimum of seven players. Awards will be presented to first and second-place teams.

Red Sails in the Sunset Trip
