Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” is the feature for a Movie Under the Stars evening at a pavilion on the north side of Holbrook Pond starting at 8 p.m. Friday.

Pumpkin-Carving Class at Holbrook
Pick out a pumpkin, then bring it and the family to Holbrook Pond for a class carving pumpkins like a pro.

Halloween bowling

Murder mystery dinner
Tickets are on sale for “Clue: the Musical,” based on the Parker Brothers board game.
Tickets are $25 per person or $175 for a table of eight and includes a family-style dinner.
No tickets will be sold at the door.
The show will be staged at Thunder Run in Club Stewart at 7 p.m. Nov. 2.
The dinner theater performance is sponsored by FMWR, in partnership with the Hinesville Area Arts Council.

Childcare space available
Childcare service is available on Fort Stewart and Hunter.
As of Oct. 22, available space on Stewart was one infant, 62 pre-toddlers, 26 toddlers and 56 pre-school. There were 29 before- and 22 after-pre-K and kindergarten, plus 46 before-and 35 after-school spaces.
On Hunter, spaces available was 26 pre-toddlers, six toddlers, and 37 pre-school. There were 13 before- and 13-after pre-K and kindergaten, plus 17 before-and 60-after school for ages 6-11.

Bodybuilding contest
“The Rock” Bodybuilding and Figures Contest on Nov. 3 at Woodruff Theater recognizes the rigorous training invested in the sport.
Weigh-in will be 8-9 a.m. and pre-judging at 10. Finals will be at 6:30 p.m.
Each contestant will be judged on muscularity, symmetry, free posing with and without music. Trophies will be given for first to third place in seven divisions: open men, women and figure, plus masters men and women (over 40), novice men and teen men.
Competition is open to Military ID cardholders (17 and older) and civilians. Entry fees are $35, plus $15 for crossovers. Spectator admission is $2 during pre-judging and $5 for the finals.

Wildlife photo contest
Registration is open until Nov. 9 for the 2012 Wildlife Photo Contest for amateur photographers at Fort Stewart and Hunter.
Photograph entries must be turned in to the Stewart or Hunter Pass & Permit Office by Nov. 9. The entry fees are $5 per photo for youth (age 4-15) and $10 per photo for adults.

Unit-level basketball

Registration continues until Nov. 21 for the company-level basketball league on Fort Stewart. There is no charge.
The league gives soldiers a chance to prove who has the best team in 3rd ID. Interested companies need to submit a letter of intent to play to the Sports Office in the Bennett Sports Complex.
Games will be at Newman Fitness Center beginning Dec. 3.

Basketball and cheerleading at Hunter
Registration for Hunter youth basketball and cheerleading ends Nov. 16. Boys and girls basketball is for ages 5-17 and cheerleading is for ages 5-13. Practices begin Nov. 26. Games are on Hunter, Habersham YMCA and the Jewish Educational Alliance.
