SAVANNAH — Savannah Technical College will host an open casting call for the third season of Master-Chef from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at STC’s Savannah Campus on White Bluff Road.
“As one of the top culinary schools in the Southeast, we are honored that MasterChef has selected Savannah Tech to host its auditions,” STC President Kathy Love said.
“I am very proud of the outstanding program Chef Vendeville and his staff have developed at the Culinary Institute of Savannah. These auditions are an excellent opportunity for our students and a wonderful opportunity to showcase our culinary programs,” she said.
To be eligible, entrants must be 18 years or older on Feb. 1, 2012, a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States and their main source of income cannot come from preparing and cooking fresh food in a professional environment (restaurant, hotels, food trucks, catering, etc). Professional chefs are not eligible for the competition.
To pre-register online or to download an application and bring it to the open call, go to www.masterchefcasting.com.
If selected to be on the show, entrants must be available to commit to the competition and taping of this show for approximately six weeks between February and April 2012, depending on how far they advance in the competition.
The Culinary Institute at Savannah Tech is accredited by the American Culinary Federation, as are its chef instructors. The program has been named one of the top four in the country, winning the Southeast Regional Hot Food competition in 2010 and Southeast Regional Knowledge Bowl competition in 2011.
