The Sanctuary Classic, a free summer-long fishing and photo contest focusing on marine sanctuaries, is open through Labor Day.

The contest features four sanctuaries, including Gray’s Reef. Other sanctuaries are Channel Islands and Monterey Bay, Calif., and Key West, Fla. Photos taken in any national marine sanctuary will qualify.

Ten $100 prizes will be given away each week to the people submitting the photographs that get the most votes. At the end of summer, $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to the four photos judged to best demonstrate certain criteria.

The scholarships will be awarded based on how well photos show all or a combination of: kids fishing, kids and family values, kids in the outdoors, kids in the sanctuaries and kids’ conservation.

Sponsors include the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation and others.
