Griddly Games is a small family games publisher that lives by the mantras This just isnt play, its play time and games that get you going. Griddly Games has won a variety of awards in the industry from Creative Child Magazine, the National Parenting Center and Dr. Toys Best Toys. Here are reviews for three games.

The game Rainbows and Storms is for creative children ages 5 and up. It provides children with the experience of designing their own board game using stickers. Based on the traditional chutes and ladders game, kids apply rainbow and storm stickers to the spaces on the board creating a colorful and personalized experience.

My daughter designed her own board with a multi-colored patchwork of stickers. The best part was playing the game together after she was done. One drawback was folding the game board back up after play with the stickers applied. It tended to crease the stickers and peel them off. But it's an innovative and fun idea.

Show Me the Kwan! is a word game with mechanics different from any other word game on the market. A topic card is drawn that gives the theme of the upcoming round of play such as food. All the words created during the round must match the theme. Next players grab a handful of 13 dice and roll away. Twelve of the dice contain letters but one die indicates a letter position such as first second or last that all words must be matched with.

With the start of a sand timer, players call out words pertaining to the theme containing either the first, second or last letter on the die while grabbing it from the table. For example, the theme is food and the dice are rolled. The single special die indicates the first letter. So as the timer starts, a player must call out a food with the first letter of the die being picked up. So a player calls out Tomato and picks up a die with the letter T. Another player calls out Pizza and picks up a die with the letter P on it. When time runs out, players calculate their scores and the first one to 50 points wins.

The colorful abstract strategy game called Oversight is a fast-paced four in a row game with a twist. The board contains movable squares and tokens to outwit an opponent. Even the best-laid plays to connect four in a row can evaporate with the new options available in Oversight. Each turn a player must decide to either place a token on the board or shift an entire row or column of the movable squares on the board into a more strategic position.

The rules are simple with players trying to get four in a row of the same kind of token, but watch out. Just when a player thinks he can score, a column shifts and its a whole new game. The game is for two to four players ages 7 and up.
