Friday foot golf

Foot golf scrambles are scheduled Friday and Oct. 23 at Taylors Creek Golf Course. The cost is $10 per player with own #5 soccer ball, $12 per player with ball rental. Cart not included. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. A briefing at 12:15 will be followed by kickoff at 12:30 p.m. For more information or to register early, call 767-2370.

 

Gridiron Challenge

Pick the weekly NFL winners during the Gridiron Challenge every Friday from 5-7 p.m. in Thunder Run at Club Stewart. There’s no admission charge, but you must be 18 to play and 21 or older to drink.

Each week, the person who the most correct picks wins a prize. Wins will be kept on file and after 17 weeks, a prize of $400 cash will be awarded to the person with the most winning picks. For more information, call 767-4717.

 

Ironman Shoot

Participants in an Ironman Shoot, Saturday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Hunter Skeet/Trap Range, will compete in one round of skeet, one round of trap and one round of 5-stand. Sign-up at the range. Free bowling

Military members, E1 through E4 get free bowling and shoe rental from 3 p.m. until closing Tuesdays beginning next week at Marne Bowling Center. Participants must be in uniform or show ID. For more information, call 767-4866.

 

Adult dodgeball

A round-robin dodgeball tournament will be in Bennett Sports Complex on Oct. 16 and 17. Open to active duty, family members, retirees, National Guard and DOD civilians who are at least 18. The cost is $155 per team for maximum 10-member teams. Sign-up through Oct. 9 at Bennett Sports Complex. Games will be 6-on-6 players. Trophies will be presented for first and second place, as well as individual trophies for the first-place team members. For more information, call 767-8238.

 

Destination Unknown Trip

Register by Oct. 14 for a destination unknown trip to Jacksonville at 4 p.m. Oct. 17. What will you visit? Here’s a hint: don't fear the animals, but there are other creatures lurking. Fall Carnival

Fall Carnival, featuring 30 rides, 10 games and carnival food, is coming to Walker Field at Fort Stewart Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 15-18. Highlights include a pie-eating contest at 8 p.m. Oct. 16 and Battle Ship and Pong beginning at 7 p.m. Oct. 17. Hours are 5-10 p.m. Oct. 15; 5-midnight Oct. 16 and 17 and 1-10 p.m. Oct. 18. Long Range Shooting

Soldiers, retirees, Army civilians and guests can site-in large caliber weapons from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 17 at Red Cloud Range Complex Echo. Bring your rifles or muzzle loaders of any caliber, no pistols or shotguns. Targets will be at 100-500 meters (paper) and 750-1,000 meters (steel). Cost is $15 per two-hour block/person. CrossFit Warrior Challenge

Register now for the CrossFit Fort Stewart Warrior Challenge on Oct. 24 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Caro Fitness Center. The cost is $30 per person through Oct. 15 and $35 per person from Oct. 16-22.

Soldiers, family members, Army civilians and other interested in crossfit may compete. Register online at https://webtrac.mwr.army.mil/webtrac/Stewartrectrac.html.

Contestants in eight divisions will complete three high-intensity workouts.

Managed hunts

Soldiers and retirees can sign up for one of three Outdoor Recreation managed deer/hog hunts at Fort Stewart this season. Register at the Stewart or Hunter Pass and Permit offices.

The Oct. 24 hunt will be in Red Cloud Complex and the deadline to register is Oct. 12. The Nov. 7 hunt will be the Delta Area. Register by Oct. 26. The third hunt will be in the Bravo Area Dec. 19 with a selection drawing on Dec. 8.

There are 45 slots for soldiers and five for retirees. You can put your name in for all hunts, but go on only one hunt. A $25 fee per hunter is payable upon selection.

Movies Under the Stars

The final Holbrook Movie Under the Stars this season will be on 24 and will feature  “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” (PG) and “Haunted Mansion” (PG), starting shortly after 7 p.m.

There’s no admission charge for the movies. Movie-goers should bring their own chairs and blankets. Popcorn and drinks will be sold. For more information, call 767-4316.   

 

Work at Club Stewart

Club Stewart, including Thunder Run, is open, but asks clients patience during a six-week floor resurfacing project.

Thunder Run lunch customers can enter through a side door to the right of the norman entrances.

Those attending functions and events in the ballroom, Palmetto Room, Patriots Lounge or Liberty Room should park in the north parking lot and use the north entrance. The north entrance also provides access to the temporarily relocated Catering and Reservations offices.
