Bluegrass in Glennville Saturday

Sponsored by the Friends of the Glennwanis Hotel, Larry Gillis and His Hard Driving Bluegrass Band will take the stage March 26 in Glennville as a fundraiser for the city-owned 1926 hotel.
The concert is at 7 p.m. at the Glennville City Auditorium. Advance tickets are available for $15 each by calling 912- 654-0441, 912-237-0781, 912-654-2515 or 912-654-1309. Tickets are $20 at the door the evening of the event.
The band features Larry Gillis of Soperton, one-half of the legendary Gillis Brothers. He is a renowned banjo picker who still plays the old claw hammer style and now is in his 29th year of performing hard-core traditional style bluegrass music.
Other band members are Ryan Gillis, the 16-year-old son of Larry Gillis, who plays guitar; Rafe Waters, who plays the doghouse bass; and 21-year-old Alex Leach, from Knoxville, Tenn., who plays lead guitar and sings lead vocals.
The concert will include old favorites along with new material written by Larry Gillis.
