Georgia Game Changers Running Company will host a wine-and-cheese fundraiser from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, for Wendy’s Warriors, a local team that will walk in the upcoming Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Savannah.

Joining Game Changers for the fundraiser will be Tory Culpepper, the community manager for special events of the Savannah area and South Atlantic Division of the American Cancer Society, and Wendy Wilson, the sales manager for Alpha Media Productions.

Wilson, who was diagnosed in May with Stage 1 breast cancer, became emotional in recalling how the event came to be.

“Since my diagnosis, it has truly been a whirlwind,” Wilson said. “However, with the love and support from my family, friends, faith and community, I have been focused on kicking this disease and helping others who are going through this fight.”

Anyone interested in joining Wilson’s team, called “Wendy’s Warriors,” can do so at http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?fr_id=70193&pg=team&team_id=1874608.

The fundraiser at Georgia Game Changers Running Company on Sept. 25 will include games, wine, cheese and light refreshments, along with a chance to meet Tim Leary and his team from BOB 106.9.

Participants are encouraged to wear pink for the cause. People who want to help in the fight against cancer, or who want to make a donation in memory of someone, can go to the Go Fund Me link for Making Strides for Breast Cancer at www.gofundme.com/y73v8t3k.
