Riverkeeper sets social, float trip
Ogeechee Riverkeeper logo

The Ogeechee Riverkeeper has set two events.

It will have a News and Views casual social from 5:30 to 7:30 this evening at Harry’s BBQ, 7672 Highway 280 in Claxton.

During the free event, sponsored by Claxton Poultry, Riverkeeper Emily Markesteyn and watershed outreach coordinator Jesse Demonbreun-Chapman will talk about proposed legislation, environment, violations, plans and events. There will be appetizers, drinks and prizes.

The group’s June Paddle will be June 25, starting at 9 a.m. Pre-registration is required. Paddlers will meet at the Savannah-Ogeechee Canal, 681 Fort Argyle Rd, Savannah, and head out to Morgan’s Bridge (Highway 204) over the Ogeechee. The 10-mile stretch to the Savannah-Ogeechee Canal takes paddlers through a changing ecosystem.

Check the Riverkeeper’s Facebook page next week to learn more about conditions and what to expect.

Paddle trips are free for members. You can join when you register. If you need a boat, the group can rent you one for the day.
