Pembroke Library pushing limits with discussion series

Pembroke Library is “pushing the limits of connection,” with a free monthly movie and discussion series. The next event is set for 6 p.m. March 24 at the Pembroke Public Library on Camellia Drive.

Come enjoy a movie with pizza from Deano’s Pizza, and discussion with film scholar and area columnist Jim Reed.

The movie this month is “His Girl Friday” (1940 rated G), a comedy that deals with the news, stars Carey Grant and Rosalyn Russel and is noted for its fast-paced dialogue.

The book recommendation this month, “Thunderstruck” by Eric Larson, is set at the dawn of the radio age when Marconi made long distance communication possible.  Copies of the book are available at the library. The Pembroke Library is one of 100 rural public libraries nationwide receiving funding from the National Science Foundation for this series.
