Georgia Game Changers Running Company had a fun time supporting a serious cause.

Game Changers recently hosted a wine-and-cheese fundraiser to benefit Wendy’s Warriors, a local team that will walk in this weekend’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Savannah.

The team is named for Wendy Wilson, who was diagnosed in May with stage 1 breast cancer. She choked up as she thanked everyone in attendance.

“Your support means everything,” Wilson said.

Wilson had her final round of chemotherapy on Sept. 30 and will be ready to walk in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer on Saturday. She then will begin radiation therapy.

Wilson celebrated her birthday two days before the fundraiser. Game Changers owner Ron Elliott led the crowd in singing “Happy Birthday” to her.

Elliott decked out all in pink to show his support for the fight against breast cancer. Along with the wine and cheese, the fundraiser included a raffle and games such as corn hole and bra pong.
