Oct. 20: Reading to dogs – Mako, Nero and Scout, certified therapy dogs, will be all ears at the Richmond Hill Public Library from 4-5 p.m. each Thursday. Children can practice their reading and language skills by reading to the dogs, who act as a non-judgmental, comforting audience. Please call 756-3580 for details.

Girls’ Night Out – First Baptist Church Richmond Hill (9184 Ford Ave.) will host this night of “fun, faith and fellowship” for women. Mainstreet yard sale –
Head over to the Mainstreet subdivision (off Frances Meeks Way) for their annual yard sale. The community-wide sale will take place from 8 a.m. to noon. See what treasures you can find!

Candle lantern tour – Join historical experts and Civil War re-enactors at Fort McAllister as they bring back a bygone era. Experience history coming alive and explore the grounds of the fort by candlelight from 7-8 p.m. Cost is $6.50 for adults and $3.75 for children. Please do not bring flashlights.
