Jan. 1: 13th annual Tybee Polar Plunge — After a night of merrymaking and ringing in the new year, gather two or more friends and enter the “Gang of Goofs” costume contest for the chance to win some great prizes, including a coveted engraving on the “Le Goof” trophy for the first-place team. Proceeds benefit the restoration and renovation of the Tybee Post Theater. The parade begins at 11 a.m., and the plunge is at noon. Admission is $25. First aid/CPR certification — Interested in becoming a first aid/CPR-certified babysitter? This session is open to 11- to 15-year-olds and will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Richmond Hill-Bryan County Chamber of Commerce.  The cost of the class is $70 and includes lunch.

Jan. 4
Bring One for the Chipper — Instead of just putting the tree on the curb after the holidays, bring it to J.F. Gregory Park to be recycled into mulch. Trees will be disposed of and will help make our community a more beautiful place. Donations can be dropped off between 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
