Aug. 17: The Color Run — Racers from all over the coastal empire and beyond will line up in Savannah’s Forsyth Park for a very colorful 5k run. Runners start the race at 8 a.m. wearing white and finish wearing the colors that have been thrown on them throughout the race. The cost is $45 per solo runner and $40 for runners competing in teams. A portion of the proceeds benefit Horizons programming at Savannah Country Day School and Bethesda Academy. To register or find more information, visit thecolorrun.com/savannah-2.

Family summer stargazing — The Oglethorpe Astronomical Association has partnered with the Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens to present families with an summer dusk and evening of “space fun” and stargazing. The night begins with a viewing of the classic 1957 sci-fi movie “Kronos: Ravager of Planets” at 7:30 p.m.  Guests are also invited to view the moon, constellations and Milky Way Galaxy through various-sized telescopes that Association members or you bring. Aug. 18
Tybee Floatilla: Will Float for Kids — It’s the last party on the water sponsored by Connect Savannah and Dan Vaden Chevrolet.  The event begins an hour before dead low tide on the Back River at Alley III and Chatham Avenue and the cost is $30 per person. Participants end up at The Crab Shack after the float and the proceeds will benefit the Burton 4-H Center, the Eastern Surfing Association, Fresh Air Home and Surfers for Autism.
