June 29: Lucky Ducky Derby — Help Tybee Island build a year-round pool by participating in the inaugural Lucky Ducky Derby at the Lighthouse Grounds. Racers will arrive at noon and adopt their ducks — each duckie is $5 or racers can purchase five duckies for $20. All races are run in heats and winners walk away with a grand prize. Adoption certificates will also be sold at various businesses around Tybee or from Community Pool Committee members. “Home of the Brave” patriotic concert — Jesup Presbyterian Church will host the Liberty County Community & Area Mass Choir production of “Home of the Brave” concert in celebration of July 4th. The concert is at 7 p.m. at Jesup Presbyterian Church, 297 South Brunswick St., Jesup.  The concert is free to the general public.  For more information, call 912-427-9664.

Savannah Winds annual patriotic concert — The Savannah Winds, community wind symphony in residence at Armstrong Atlantic State University, will conclude its 2012-2013 subscription season by honoring America, her service men and women and veterans of the United States armed forces with its annual patriotic concert. The concert will also feature Brig. Gene. John Hort, U.S. Army deputy commanding general-rear of the 3rd Infantry Division, as he narrates to the Winds’ performance of “America, the Beautiful.” The 3rd ID honor guard will present the nation’s colors and Chatham County Veteran of the Year honors will be presented to Jim Vaughan, master sergeant of the U.S. Air Force. Tickets are $12-20. Senior citizens, military personnel and children or students may purchase tickets for $10-17. Pricing ranges by seat location within the auditorium.
