We all can win at life by following Christ

It is in Christ whom man can find victory.
If one only would study the life of Christ, it easily would be seen that his life was not an easy one. But he gained victory. Some would say, “Well, he is the Son of God, he didn’t face things man faces today.” He was 100 percent God, but he was also 100 percent man. He suffered many things that if most people suffered, they would have deserted their mission. He pressed forward. He was tempted as all men are tempted, yet he did not sin (Hebrews 4:15).
In the Gospel account, we read where Satan tempted him with things of this life, yet he refused to sin. In each temptation, the Lord quoted Scripture to overcome Satan’s advances. While going about his work, he continually was challenged by the scribes and Pharisees, yet remained steadfast to the will of the Father. He was on Earth to show man the way to eternal victory.
Many look upon those who profess to follow Christ as weaklings. They even would assert that Christ was a weakling. But he was not. Christ’s courage and stamina was seen when he was forsaken by those men whom he had chosen to walk with him. He knew that death awaited at the cross, yet continued his march to Jerusalem.
When he was taken prisoner in the garden, one of his disciples tried to defend him with a sword. But the Lord told him to put it away. After this, his disciples fled.
“Then, Jesus said unto him, ‘Put up again thy sword into his place, for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than 12 legions of angels? But how then shall the Scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?’  In that same hour, said Jesus to the multitudes, ‘Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me. But all this was done, that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.’ Then all the disciples forsook him and fled” (Matthew 26:52-56).
At Jesus’ trial, there was no one to plead his case. He was mocked and beaten — and all the while, he stood with “a face like flint.” He stood steadfast in following the Father’s word.
Surely, it can be seen that man today must also steadfastly follow God’s word. He gained the victory. It is only in Christ that man can have victory.
It is God’s desire that all men find victory in his Son. He has provided the sacrifice needed (Christ), left instructions (the Bible) and given man the free will either to follow Christ to victory or follow Satan to defeat and eternal punishment.
To gain the victory, you must have believe that Christ is the Son of God, turn to God and away from sin, be willing to confess Christ before men, and then be baptized into Christ (Galatians 3:27). We then must remain faithful to God all the days of our life.
Obey God while opportunity presents itself. Find the victory that is in Christ.
