Former football star and TV host Tim Tebow is making headlines after reportedly leading his fellow airplane passengers in prayer after a man on his flight began experiencing a serious medical emergency.

The incident purportedly unfolded on a Delta flight from Atlanta to Phoenix on Sunday, with passengers later taking to social media to share details of what they apparently observed.

They say that Tebow a former NFL player who is known for being outspoken about his Christian faith approached the man's family after he began experiencing what appeared to be heart problems, and led them in prayer.

The man who fell ill reportedly later died at a hospital in Phoenix after the plane landed, People Magazine reported.

The story about Tebow's prayer involvement came after a passenger named Richard Gotti shared a Facebook post saying that he was aboard Delta Flight 1772 when the medical emergency unfolded.

"An older gentleman began having what appeared to be heart problems, and he went unconscious," Gotti wrote. "I watched strangers from all over the world and every ethnicity come to the help of this man for over an hour!"

As people aboard the plane tried to help the man with chest compressions, an IV and prayer Gotti said that they refused to give up. It was in the middle of the chaos that Tebow purportedly got up and walked down the airplane aisle.

"He met with the family as they cried on his shoulder! I watched Tim pray with the entire section of the plane for this man," Gotti explained. "He made a stand for God in a difficult situation."

Walking away from the experience, Gotti said that he thanks God that "we still have people of faith who in times of difficulty look to the Lord!"

Another woman named Pamela Rainey said that she, too, was on the flight, posting an Instagram photo that appears to show Tebow sitting in the seat in front of her, along with a description of what she said she observed.

"I sat right behind #timtebow on my @delta to #Phoenix! We had a medical emergency on the flight," Rainey wrote. "Tim helped the family deplane with their baggage. So #compassionate! #ihadtoask #dontwatchfootball."

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the outlet was trying to confirm the details, but that Delta does not release information about passengers on board its flights; Tebow has also been silent about the purported incident on social media.

That said, a Delta spokesman did confirm that there was, indeed, an emergency and that medical professionals greeted the plane upon its arrival.

"We cant say enough about the Delta professionals who care for our customers every day and we are grateful to our customers who are so often quick to extend kindness and care to one another," Brian Kruse, a Delta spokesman, told the outlet.

This is the second time in recent weeks that Tebow has made headlines for a good deed. The former football player recently left his vacation in the Bahamas to visit former high school teammate Rodney Sumter Jr., who was shot three times during the recent terror attack at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando.

Tebow, who is also currently co-hosting Fox television's "Home Free" series a show that allows contestants to compete to win a house for their own personal heroes recently told The Church Boys podcast why he truly values humility.

"Trying to be humble is a state of recognition of where youre at in your relationship to Christ in knowing that I have nothing to brag about Ive been blessed with certain gifts and Ive been able to use them, but they can be gone instantly," he said. "Thats why you just cant brag about stuff. The only thing that weve called to brag about is our Lord and savior Jesus Christ."
