Resurrection equals new life

This next Sunday Christians around the world will be celebrating one of the greatest events of history that relates to our faith: the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

While Jesus was on earth He told His disciples numerous times that He would be killed but that after three days He would rise from the grave.

He was killed by the way of crucifixion and was put in a tomb, but after three days His tomb was empty because He miraculously arose from the grave just as He said He would.

He was seen by over five hundred people that could confirm this miracle. He then ascended into the heavens to sit at the right hand of God the Father to intercede for His church.

The resurrection of Christ is symbolic of another kind of resurrection according to the scriptures.

It says that just as Christ was resurrected so we should be resurrected to a new way of life; speaking of the miracle of a changed life after one decides to be a follower of Jesus Christ.

The Bible says that without Christ we are spiritually dead, helpless and under the power of sin. But when we receive Christ as the forgiver of our sins and choose to follow Him, we become a new creation, spiritually alive, and gain freedom from the power of sin.

In other words we start on the road to becoming a totally different person and just as all those people gave witness to Christ’s resurrection, many will begin to see the change in us.

If you are a Christ-follower I hope you will take time to celebrate the risen Christ and be thankful for what He has done for you.

If you have not made that decision I hope you will sense the need for a brand new you.

If you do not have a church home, I hope you will be our guest this Easter Sunday at 10:30 am. We are located at the entrance to Buckhead North.
