Although Living Waters Community Church in Hinesville has not yet celebrated its one-year anniversary, members of the congregation are experiencing many life-changing events.
Under the leadership of Pastor Jerry Wayne Bazemore Sr., Living Waters is known as a loving, caring and giving church.
“The members are always ready to help someone. They are not judgmental or critical and minister to anyone regardless of the background or circumstances they come from,” Bazemore said.
A native of Savannah, Bazemore has been in the ministry since 1983. Before coming to Hinesville, he pastored the Dwelling Place in Richmond Hill.
“We started this church in 2011 and had our first worship service on June 12, 2011. God led us to start this church and build this church by His leading. This is my fourth pastorate,” he said.
Bazemore said his vision for the church is taken from Isaiah 61:1: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me (us) because the Lord has anointed me (us) to preach good tidings to the poor; he has sent me (us) to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and opening of the prisons to those who are bound.”
“God’s desire for us is to minister to the whole person — physical, emotional and spiritual. We do this first by prayer so we can know how to minister best to each individual. We need to know how God wants to work in each special person He sends our way. From there, we do what Jesus would do — whatever it takes to bring about God’s will for their life and furthering the cause of Christ,” Bazemore said. “Worship of God is a primary focus of our ministry. Out of that comes intimacy with God and power to do the things He calls us to do. Through intimacy of worship we receive revelation of His will in all areas of our lives.
“My goals for 2012 are to grow God’s people in the likeness of Jesus, to teach each member how to worship God in true worship, to lead people to Jesus and increase our membership as God leads,” the pastor said. “I am inspired when leading people to know God and grow in Him, and to see their wounds of life healed through the power of prayer and counseling.”
Living Waters has Bible study at 7 p.m. Thursdays. “We study relevant issues we face today and learn what the Bible has to say about it. We have healing prayer on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. We pray for spiritual, emotional and physical healing and deliverance. We also counsel those in need and pray with them and ask God to enter into the issues and bring healing,” Bazemore said.
The church also has a ladies’ ministry that meets once a month for fellowship and ministry. Additionally, the members enjoy family oriented socials and dinners where members are encouraged to worship together.
While it is a small church, congregants are involved in evangelism.
“We have gone door-to-door, witnessing and handing out our tracts and information about our church. I have written a book titled ‘Share Evangelism.’ It teaches people how to share the gospel. It is easy to understand and is adaptable to any situation. I have also written an evangelism tract to show people how to be saved. Both are available for free through our ministry,” Bazemore said.
Bazemore attended Luther Rice Seminary in Jacksonville, Georgia Southern University, Armstrong Atlantic State University and Brewton-Parker College. He and his wife, Celia Bazemore, have been married for eight years. They have four children and five grandchildren. Celia Bazemore, a retired teacher, is active in the ministry. In his spare time, the pastor enjoys golfing and fishing.
The Living Waters Community Church invites the public to worship with them at 10 a.m. Sunday mornings and during their other worship services. The church is at 109 Wilson Ave. in Hinesville.
