Heaven's blessing from God, part 1
pastor corner

God had given to man his word so man can know how to please God. Some find that a difficult thing to comprehend, but there is a Supreme Being, God, who created everything, including man.

In his love, he explains to man how he came to be, how to live and how to prepare for eternity. In the pages of the Bible, man is told of just how “wonderful” heaven will be. The passages serve to give comfort and hope for all. In the troubled times of the world today, man needs to look into the pages of God’s word and live by those words.

God, in his great book, gives man word pictures of how eternity in heaven will be. “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” (John 14:1-4). How great to know that from those who follow God, there is a place prepared.

One of the most comforting passages concerning heaven is, “And I, John, saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away’” (Revelation 21:2-4).

To all who have come to know the sting of death by losing a loved one or facing death themselves, what comfort this passage brings.

God used language to help man have an idea of the splendor of heaven. Mankind knows of the beauty of gold, pearl and rare jewels; therefore, one can have an idea of what a wonderful place heaven will be. Knowing such a place is waiting should help persuade lost souls to seek for this place, causing them to desire to leave the things of the world behind. Every person should have heaven in their mind’s eye as they go about their daily tasks, and strive to obey God so heaven can be their home. In order to do this, all must open the Bible and become students of its words.

Often it is said of heaven that is a going home. The use of the word “home” gives a sense of peace and comfort to the idea of heaven. Home is the place where no matter what befalls one they know it is as a safe haven where comfort and peace are enjoyed. Heaven is such a place; it is a place where comfort can be found. It is a place of peace where God reigns eternal. Such a great blessing knowing heaven awaits all who obey.
