Special services: In today’s society there is a gravitational pull to overdo Christmas, which leads to stretching schedules and finances and can cause stress. Join New Beginnings Community Church for a series on "A plain ole Christmas,” including “A Plain Ole Joy” today, and “A Plain Ole Peace” Dec. 23.

New Beginnings events

New Beginnings Community Church will have its fifth annual dinner theater, “The City Cousins Visit Cricket County,” at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church at the entrance to Buckhead North subdivision off Highway 144 in Richmond Hill. The church’s annual Christmas caroling in the community will begin at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday. Bring the whole family for a night of song, hot drinks and refreshments.

The church will hold a special Christmas Eve candlelight service at 6 p.m. Dec. 24.

Live Nativity

Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual Christmas services beginning today with a live Nativity at 6 p.m. at the Groveland Stairways to Help Community Center, 7200 Highway 280.

During the presentation, the Christmas Story will be presented in three scenes with a selection from the youth choir between each scene.

The Nativity will feature live animals and a wooden constructed manager. Light refreshments will be served and there is no charge for the event.

The church will have its annual Children’s Christmas Program and Candlelight Service at 6 p.m. Dec. 24 at the church in Groveland. Don’t forget to bring flashlights or electric candles.
