Answers are right in plain sight

There is a story in the scriptures where there were several people who decided to stop following Jesus around.

Jesus turned to his 12 disciples and asked them if they also would choose to stop following him. Peter answered, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life."

I think what Peter was saying was that no matter what our problems of life are, Jesus had the answer to meet every need.

There are words or teachings that bring death and destruction to our lives, but the words of Jesus represent life. If a person desires to live a fulfilled, purposeful life the answer is in Jesus, and Peter understood this.

The sad truth is that many who stopped following him missed this truth even though it was right in plain sight, right under their noses.

It’s easy for us to not see things that many times are right in front of us. For instance, the other day I was thinking I needed to purchase a new razor. You need to understand that one lasts me from three to five years; my dad said I have little facial hair due to my Indian blood.

Anyway, since it had been so long since I remember purchasing one I didn’t realize that in the top drawer in the bathroom toward the back were several new razors. I open that drawer every morning but hadn’t noticed them even though they were right under my nose.

There are people in our communities who have marriage problems, problems raising their kids, financial issues, physical needs and especially spiritual issues, who don’t know what to do. When the truth of the matter is, the answer to all of life’s problems is in plain sight; right under their noses. The truth is found in God’s word, the Bible which reveals that Jesus Christ desires to come into your life, forgive you of your sin, give you a new beginning and guide you in every area of life.

The good news is, He is able and willing if we will only reach out to him.
