Dr. Scott Montgomery and Dr. Melissa Montgomery

Dr. Melissa Macy Walls and Dr. Scott Charles Montgomery were married on May 5, 2007 at Epworth Methodist Church in Savannah, Ga. Reverend Terry Phleger officiated the ceremony. The reception followed at the Savannah Westin Harbor Resort. The bride was escorted by her father, Mr. Michael Walls, and her grandfather, Mr. Robert Norton Doty, Sr. She is the daughter of Mrs. Vicki Driggers of Richmond Hill and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Walls of Midway, Georgia. The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emmitt Parrish and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Norton Doty, Sr. of Savannah, and Mrs. Maryanne Ray of Midway, Georgia. A graduate of the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia, she completed her residency at Tulane University in urologic surgery in June of 2007. She plans to practice medicine in New Orleans.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Charles E. Montgomery of Logansport, Indiana. A graduate of Northwestern University and Indiana University School of Medicine, he completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Tulane University and a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Virginia. He currently has a busy sports medicine practice in New Orleans at Ochsner Medical Center. He is also the team physician for the New Orleans VooDoo, the New Orleans Hornets and many college and high school sports in the New Orleans area.

The matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Mrs. Amanda Burr. Bridesmaids were Ms. Ellen Goldader, Dr. Erin Holsten, Dr. Paige Kimball, Mrs. Mindy Patton, sister of the groom, and Mrs. Kate Verner. The best man was Dr. Jeff Knake. Groomsmen were Dr. Scott Brown, Mr. Jeremy Burr, brother-in-law of the bride, Mr. Robert Boyd Patton, brother-in-law of the groom, Mr. Robert Twitchell and Mr. Brian Walls, brother of the bride. The Bell Ringer was Master Carter Patton, nephew of the groom. Mr. Benjamin Driggers, brother of the bride, served as an usher. Mr. Gabriel Walls, brother of the bride, played the piano during the ceremony.

The bride wore a Watters strapless silk shantung gown with a drop waist and chapel train. She carried a bouquet of blue and white hydrangeas and wore vintage jewelry which belonged to her late great grandmother, Mrs. Helen Simerly.
