Several young and aspiring musicians will be offering up some free entertainment today at the amphitheater in J.F. Gregory Park.

The event, set to kick off at 6:30 p.m., is sponsored by Richmond Hill locals Jeff Nethery and Stuart Nethery, brothers who want to help aspiring musicians.

“Him (Jeff) and myself have a very large passion for music period, and to be able to help the youth around here is just something positive,” Stuart Nethery said.

Local entertainers Pariah, Between Monarchs, the Sun Circuits and Cailee Stein will perform using a professional sound system provided by Stuart Nethery.

“It just provides a nice venue, and they really get to feel like they’re entertaining some spectators,” he said.

The show is free to the public, and Nethery said local youth have been promoting the event on Facebook. He expects around 200 people to come out.

Nethery said he also wanted to provide a fun and positive event for local youth.

“It’s a good event to keep them out of trouble,” he said. “A day that keeps a 20-year-old from running the streets is a good thing.”

Nethery and his brother have hosted an event at a different location but wanted to do something Richmond Hill, he added.

Nethery said he hopes the event will continue to grow and gain potential sponsors for future events. He is also thankful to the city for allowing them to use the amphitheater.

He encourages young and aspiring bands to contact him at 756-7443.
