The “Common Threads” knit, crochet and quilting group will be hosting a silent auction at the Richmond Hill Library on Monday.
A variety of different items will be available for auction. Each item will have a closing date and time. Please stop by the library to view the items and place your bid. Detailed information is available at the display tables.
All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society/Relay for Life Richmond Hill.

Society reception
The Richmond Hill Historical Society is kicking off the holiday season with a reception at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, in the Richmond Hill Museum.
It has been a good year for the society and the Richmond Hill Museum and they want to share the excitement and enthusiasm with the community.
The Barbershop building is on its way to its final home and the DVD “Ford Era Memories,” a compilation of vignettes of oral histories taken from the people who grew up here in the 1930s and 1940s when Henry Ford was a winter resident on Bryan Neck, is now available.

Cook-off
The ninth annual Richmond Hill Chili Cook-off will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at JF Gregory Park.     
Come out and sample some of Coastal Georgia’s best chili. There will also be crafts, other food vendors, local entertainment, Silly Dilly the clown, fun for the kids and pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Movie night
The city of Richmond Hill will sponsor a movie night at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, in conjunction with the annual Chili Cook-off celebration. “Polar Express” will be shown at the amphitheater in J.F. Gregory Park. It is recommended that attendants bring chairs to enjoy the free holiday movie.

Holiday Bazaar
The annual Holiday Bazaar, presented by Golden Isles Arts and Humanities Association, will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Mary Ross Waterfront Park at Bay and Gloucester streets in downtown Brunswick.

Christmas parade

The 15th annual Richmond Hill Christmas Parade will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4.  The theme of the parade is “Christmas on the Coast” and this year’s grand marshall is Mayor Harold Fowler.
Come out and enjoy what has become one of the largest Christmas parades in Coastal Georgia.

Charity ball
Willow Salon of Richmond Hill will host the first Willow Charity Ball from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at the Richmond Hill City Center.
The event, which is black tie optional, will include a dinner buffet, dancing, silent auction and a cash bar. Tickets are $75 per person, and all proceeds will benefit the Bryan County Children’s Fund.
Sponsorships are available at various levels ranging from $75 to $1,200.

Pet photos
PawParazzi’s annual Pet Photos with Santa is from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, at the shop on Ford Ave.
All pets are welcome – don’t miss the chance to come and get pictures with the jolly guy in red for a great cause. Photos are a $20 donation to the National Canine Cancer Foundation, and participants receive a 4-by-6-inch non-copyrighted photograph and card.
“After loosing one of my own dogs to cancer, it has just weighed on my heart to give back to cancer research whenever I can,” said Sherri Broome, Pawparazzi owner.
Those making a donation will receive a “receipt” for their picture, showing the donation amount and thanking them for their contribution.
 
Winter Muster
Fort McAllister State Historic Park will hold its annual Winter Muster and Battle from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at the park on Fort McAllister Road in South Bryan.
Spend the day at the fort as Union and Confederate forces prepare for the climactic battle of Sherman’s March to the Sea. Guests will be able to witness the battle for control of the fort at 5 p.m.
The cost of attendance is $5 for adults and $3.50 for children.

Legion party
American Legion Post 164 and the Ladies Auxiliary invite all area active duty military and their families to the annual Post Christmas party at 7 p.m. Dec. 9. The party will be at the Post home on Hwy. 280, west of Harvey’s in Pembroke.
A meal will be served and Santa will pay a visit to the children.
Guests will be limited to Pembroke, Groveland, Ellabell and Brooklet area residents. All members are asked to bring a large side dish. Meat, bread and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.

Holiday concert
A season favorite every year, the Savannah Philharmonic’s annual holiday concert, Christmas with the Philharmonic, will be performed on Friday and Saturday, Dec.17 and 18, at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Savannah
Last year’s Christmas concert sold out prior to the event and no tickets were available at the door. Ticket prices are $35, $50 and $100.  Family tickets are available for purchase for $100 (family of four, limited seating). Tickets are available at www.savannahphilharmonic.org or by calling (912) 525-5050.
