Fall exhibit: Arts on the Coast will have its annual Fall Art Show from through Sunday at the Arts on the Coast Gallery in the Speir Brogdon Building at 2592 Highway 17 in Richmond Hill.
The event will include the gallery’s grand opening, as well as a silent auction that will benefit The Matthew Freeman Project: Pens and Paper for Peace.
The show is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Additionally, an artists’ reception will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, when the public can meet with the artists and enjoy refreshments.

Veterans observance
The city of Richmond Hill will observe Veterans Day at 11 a.m. Monday in J. F. Gregory Park.
The observance will honor those who have served and continue to serve in the armed services, along with police, firefighters and other emergency-service workers. The event will feature speakers and a 21-gun salute. The public is invited.

Meeting rescheduled
Due to Veteran’s Day, the Pembroke City Council will hold its monthly November meeting at 7 p.m. on Nov. 13. For more information contact City Hall at 653-4417.

Meeting canceled
The Richmond Hill Planning and Zoning Commission rescheduled meeting set for Tuesday due to the Veterans Day holiday has been canceled due to a lack of agenda items. The commission will meet next at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 26.

Club meeting
The Richmond Hill Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the John W. Stevens Wetlands Education Center in J. F. Gregory Park.
Featured speaker Nathaniel Glover will discuss the Keep Georgia Beautiful program. Members also will receive felt Christmas stockings to decorate for Georgia Regional Hospital.

Library board meeting
There will be a meeting of the Bryan County Library Board Building Committee at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bryan County Library-Richmond Hill, 9607 Ford Ave. The public is invited to attend.

Firefighters needed
The Bryan County Fire Department needs volunteers. No experience is necessary; training will be provided, including the opportunity to become a certified firefighter in the state of Georgia.

Yarn donations
Common Threads, a needle-work group at the Richmond Hill Public Library, is seeking donations of yarn.
Common Threads knit and crochet adult chemo hats, Afghan blankets and lap throws and nursery and children’s hats for local hospitals. Some items are also available for free at the library. The group is in need of yarn to continue these projects.
Donations can be dropped off at the Richmond Hill Public Library on Ford Avenue anytime during regular business hours.

Study group
Anyone interested in studying and discussing America’s founding principles, with a focus on the Constitution, should consider joining the Get a Life Society. No credentials are needed except a love of history and a sense of humor. For more information, call Monte Ray at 445-5673.
