The Richmond Hill Exchange Club will hold its 20th annual Kid’s Fishing Derby from 8:30 a.m. to noon June 5 at the Richmond Hill Fish Hatchery. Registration begins at noon. The derby is limited to children ages 15 and under, with awards for children 12 and under. All children will be eligible for door prizes.
Participants should bring fishing poles and bait and be ready to fish. A limited amount of bait will be provided by The Exchange Club, and a limited number of fishing poles will be provided by the state Department of Natural Resources. The site location isdabt be 362 Wade Carter Road, Ellabell, from 4:00-5:30 p.m. Meals will be provided, free-of-charge, to children enrolled in the summer program without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia has been a leader in initiatives to reduce childhood hunger since it established Kids Café in 1989. Summer feeding is essential to ensuring proper nutrition for children at-risk for hunger since they do not have access to free or reduced-price school lunches when school is out of session.
