Handy help
Have house/car/computer maintenance questions and don’t know where to turn? Aug. 7, 10 a.m.- noon. There will be a handyman workshop at First Baptist Church of Richmond Hill. Mothers' group
Join Mothers Of Preschoolers (MOPS) at First Baptist Church of Richmond Hill. Get together with other moms to figure out the art  and science of mothering together.
If you have a child from birth-kindergarten, this group is for you. An open house will be Aug. 3 in the fellowship hall from 9:30 a.m.-noon. Stop by anytime to see what we are all about, enjoy some snacks,  fellowship and to register your child.
Regular meetings  are the first and third Tuesday of every month at 9:30 a.m.

Passport fees
Fees for U.S Passport Books and U.S Passport Cards will be increasing effective July 13.
The increase will be an additional $35 for adults ages 16 and up and an additional $20 for minors under age 16 for passport books.
Passport cards will be increasing an additional $10 for adults and an additonal $5 for minors.  
Hurry and get your passports before the rates increase. Applications can be processed at the main office in Pembroke or the satellite office in Richmond Hill.  Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, excluding major holidays.

CAC meeting
The Georgia Coastal Management Program’s Coastal Advisory Council’s 2010 annual meeting will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at the Casino Building at the Pier Village on St. Simons Island, Room 108.
Council meetings are held quarterly and are open to the public. The quarterly meetings keep Coastal Advisory Council members, the local governments and agencies they represent and the public better informed of Coastal Management Program activities and allows for timely discussion of coastal events and concerns.
Themes for the upcoming Cycle 14 Coastal Incentive Grant Program will be discussed and set at this annual meeting.

Crabbing event

Fort McAllister State Historic Park will hold a kids crabbing event from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at the park.
The cost is $5 per child and the event is available for children up to age 16. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Availability is limited.

Luncheon
All ladies, daughters and granddaughters are invited to Carey Hilliard’s banquet room at 11111 Abercorn St., for a luncheon at noon Wednesday, July 28.
The luncheon is sponsored by Chatham County Christian Women’s Club, affiliated with Stonecroft Ministries. The cost of the buffet lunch is $10.25.
Melody Williams of Kitchen Collection will display unique items. Rhonda Byrd will sing a lovely song and speak about a perfect organization for life.

VBS
Pembroke Christian Church, 116 West Bacon St., will hold its vacation Bible school July 11-15, from 6-8:30 each night. This year’s theme is “SonQuest Rain Forest.” Dinner will be provided each night. All ages are invited. For more information, please call (912) 653-2457.

Art classes
The city Of Pembroke is holding beginning art classes on Thursdays, from 10-11:30 a.m. at the J. Dixie Harn Community Center. Carolyn Morgan is teaching the class. The cost is $15 for a six-week session. To sign up please call 653-4484

Mobile Food Pantry
Due to constraints, there will not be any scheduled Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantries at the Gospel Truth Bible Clinic in Ellabell or any other site, until early fall with the exception of case-by-case availability.

Flag football

Upward Flag Football K5-12th grade boys and girls upward cheerleading for K5-sixth grade girls. Cost is $100, and final deadline is July 17. Evaluations start July 12, practices start Aug. 2. First games are Aug. 28. Need coaches and referees. Contact Randy Dykes at rhfbcsports@hotmail.com

Bible school

Richmond Hill United Methodist Church will set sail for the high seas during the its annual vacation Bible school set for 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 12-16 at RHUMC, 9050 Ford Ave.
Richmond Hill United Methodist Church's vacation Bible school is free to any  entering pre-school child through entering fifth-graders.

Northside VBS
Northside Baptist Church, located on W.E. Smith Road in Pembroke, will have vacation Bible school July 12-16 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This year’s theme is “Soul Survivors on Danger Island.” All ages are invited to come and join in the fun and learning of God’s Word.

Art show
Bryan County artists are now being featured at the new Bryan County Administrative Complex. The show is in the main lobby and is accessible to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The show will run through September.
