Blood drive in Pembroke  

A community blood drive will take place in Pembroke from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Pembroke United Methodist Church Social Hall, located at 102 North College Street. Please visit redcrossblood.org and register to donate using Sponsor Code: pembrokecomm. All presenting donors will be entered into a drawing for a $25 American Express Gift Card.

Mattress sale to benefit soccer
   The Richmond Hill  High School Striker Booster Club will hold a fundraiser mattress sale from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday at the RHHS cafeteria. Brand name mattresses and savings as much as 60 percent off, according to organizers. Refreshments will be available. Proceeds will benefit the RHHS boys’ and girls’ soccer teams. Local GOP to have barbecue Sat.

BCES PTO chicken dinners
The Bryan County Elementary PTO will hold a chicken dinner sale on March 3. Purchase in advance at school or from any BCES student for $7, pick up from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the school. Project Linus at RHPL  
Project Linus Blanket Day, is from 1-5 p.m. March 3 at the Richmond Hill Public Library, 9607 Ford Ave.
Help make quilted, knitted, crocheted blankets for children in distress.  Quilt kits are available.No experience is necessary, there are tasks for all skill levels. Guest speaker at Bethel Baptist  

The Immortal Six Hundred Camp 2600 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans presents speaker John Latty at 7 p.m. March 8 at Bethel Baptist Church, Highway 17 at the I-95 overpass. There is no charge. Latty is author of “A Place Called Calvary, A History of Calvary Baptist Church of Gainsville, Georgia.” The public is invited.

Snack vendors sought
Snack vendors are being sought to set up in J.F. Gregory Park March 10 as part of Richmond Hill’s 50th birthday celebration picnic. The city will provide free hot dogs, chips and a drink to all who attend but vendors are needed to sell and serve snack foods such as popcorn, cotton candy, soda, etc. Those interested in reserving a booth or obtaining more information should call 756-3345.

Pregnancy Care Center fundraiser
The Pregnancy Care Center of Richmond Hill will hold its first annual fund raising banquet on March 24 at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church Richmond Hill Fellowship Hall. A meal will be provided and Patrick Eades, regional consultant, will be speaker. More information to come.

Pembroke Christian Church will host its annual Pork Steak Dinner on Saturday, March 31, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dinners are $7 each. For more information or to purchase tickets, please call the church office at 653-2457. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until noon.

Volunteers needed at Senior Centers

The Bryan County Senior Centers are in need of volunteers to deliver meals to homebound clients from 10 a.m. to noon Monday-Friday in the Richmond Hill and Pembroke areas. Early voting under way now
Early voting for the March 6 presidential primary/special election is running until March 2. Voters can cast ballots from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the County Voter Registration Office at 151 S. College St. in Pembroke or the County Administrative Complex at 66 Capt.
