The city of Richmond Hill Planning and Zoning Commission meeting scheduled for April 9 has been canceled due to lack of agenda items. The next scheduled meeting will be April 23 at 7:30 p.m. For more information, contact City Hall at 756-3345.

Pray for rain
Pembroke Christian Church will host a weekly Prayer/Praise for Rain Service every Monday evening at 7. Everyone is invited. This service is sponsored by the North Bryan County Ministerial Association.

BEREA Meeting

The Bryan -Evans Retired Educators Association will have its last meeting of the year Tuesday at the Pembroke United Methodist Church at 10:30 AM. The guest speaker will be Danny Brown from the DNR who will provide information on vacation sites. The United Methodist women will prepare and serve lunch.

Library closure
The Richmond Hill Public Library will be closed 10-2 on Tuesday for a Staff Workshop. They apologize for any inconvenience.

Free computer class
The Richmond Hill Public Library will offer a free computer class on Internet Use, 12-2 on Wednesday. The class will cover surfing the internet, finding sites and information and creating bookmarks and folders. Please call 756-3580 or come by the library to sign up.

 Historical Program
The Immortal Six Hundred Camp 2600 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans invites the public to attend an historical program on the CSS Hunley, the first submarine to sink an enemy warship. The program will be given at the Wetlands Center in Gregory Park at 7 p.m., April 12. The public is invited and there is no charge. For more information, see www.600csa.com and www.hunley.org. Deacons Appreciation Day
Deacons Appreciation Day will be celebrated at the Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church on April 13 at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be Terrence C. Riley of Fairmont Baptist Church. The theme is “I’m a Soldier on the Battlefield Fighting for the Lord.” For more information call 727-2163.

Alzheimer’s Fundraiser
Bryan County Health and Rehabilitation Center will be having a yard sale with all proceeds going to benefit the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The fundraiser will take place on April 14 at 8 a.m. in the parking lot at 127 Carter Street (behind the Methodist Church on Ford Avenue). Hamburger lunches, including chips and a drink, will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. for $2.50.

Fundraiser dinner
The August Birth Month of the Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church is sponsoring a fundraiser dinner April 14, 20 and 21 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dinners are $10 and a slab of ribs is $20. Dinners consist of BBQ ribs, BBQ chicken, fried shrimp, potato salad, back/bone and rice, collard green and cornbread. Asperger Support Group
Richmond Hill Asperger Support Group will meet at 7 p.m., April 17 at the Richmond Hill Public Library. The guest speaker is a music therapist. Contact rhaspergergroup@aol.com for more information.

Talent show
Richmond Hill High School will hold a talent show beginning at 7 p.m. April 19 in the gym. Students will sing, dance, rap, play guitar, recite poetry, play the piano and take part in slam dunk and 3-point shooting contests and more. The public is invited.

Garage Sale
The second Annual Treasures on the Hill Ultimate Garage Sale sponsored by George Washington Carver Elementary School PTSO will be Saturday, April 21 from 8 a.m.-noon at the school. Vendors call 667-4097 for more info.

Volunteers needed
The Bryan County Senior Centers are in need of volunteers to deliver meals to homebound clients from 10 a.m. to noon Monday-Friday in the Richmond Hill and Pembroke areas.
