Jury duty canceled
Bryan County Clerk of Courts Becky Crowe has announced jury duty for April 19 has been canceled. No jurors will be needed.  

Fundraiser
The Richmond Hill Historical Society, a non-profit organization, will be sponsoring a Bake, Book, and Sundries Sale today, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds from the sale will go to maintaining the Richmond Hill Museum. Objects for the sale can be dropped off at the museum on Monday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. prior to the event. What ever is not sold on the Sunday will be donated to Good Will. Relay for Life
The Pembroke Christian Church is raffling a Georgia Southern Afghan, handmade by Lois Duggar for the North Bryan Relay for Life. The afghan is 55 inches by 61 inches. Tickets are $2 each and may be purchased from church members or by calling 653-4958, 653-2268, or 653-2555. The winning ticket will be drawn at the North Bryan Relay for Life event on April 23.


BCHS reunion
The Bryan County High School Class of 1990 20-year reunion is June 12 at 7 p.m. at the Harbor View Room in the Desoto Hilton, Savannah. Dinner and a D.J. The cost is $60 per person, payment due by May 1. Special reunion discount available for overnight rooms. Make checks payable to Cleve White, P.O. Box 902, Ellabell, GA 31308. Gospel sing

The Southerners will be in concert Friday, April 23, at 7 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 1805 Cartertown Road, Richmond Hill. Everyone is invited.

Pembroke yard sale
The city of Pembroke will host its annual citywide yard sale on May 1 from 8 a.m. until noon in the municipal parking lot downtown on Hwy. 280. Booth spaces are available for $10 each. You can sign up at City Hall, located at 160 North Main Street. Call 653-4413 for more information.

Yard sale
What better use of the pavilion in J.F. Gregory Park, but to host a community yard sale? During Georgia Cities Week, April 18-24, the City of Richmond Hill will host the first annual community yard sale under the pavilion on April 24 from 7 a.m. to noon. Sellers must reserve a booth for $10 to ensure that the pavilion is cleaned. Household items, clothes, furniture, vehicles, and more are welcomed.

4-H party
The Bryan County 4-H Program is hosting a Dance Party for fifth- through eighth-graders on April 23 from 6-9 p.m. at the Richmond Hill Recreation Center.  Also, tell your parents to clean out the garage and bring the excess stuff to the dance. The 4-H Club is collecting items for their yard sale to be held May 15. Bring a substantial donation and receive discount coupons for items to purchase at the dance and a chance to win an prize. Admission is $5.  Parents are asked to provide a contact number when a child is dropped off.   Please no early/late guests.

Fundraiser
American Legion Post 164, Pembroke, is selling genuine Vidalia jumbo onions to support Post activities. The 10 pound bags will sell for $8 each, and the 25-pound bags for $15 each. Delivery will be late April or early May. These onions are from Ray Farms and certified by the state as genuine Vidalia onions. Call B.J. Clark at 653-4958 to place an order or see any member of the Post. Tickets will be sold until late April in the Pembroke, Ellabell and Richmond Hill areas. The Post meets the second Thursday each month at 8 p.m. All veterans are welcome to visit and/or join.

GOP qualifying
The Bryan County Republican Party qualifying period for candidates for the 2010 election is from April 26 at 9 a.m. until April 30 at noon. There are a number of positions open on the Bryan County Commission and Board of Education. Qualifying fees are $45 for the county commission and $18 for BoE. Rabies clinic

Bryan County 4-H is sponsoring its annual rabies clinic on Saturday, April 24 from 8 a.m.-noon at Lanier Primary School, Hwy. 280 East of Pembroke. Cost is $8 per vaccination per cat or dog. Microchip implants will also be available for $25. Owners responsible for activation and registration. Dr. Amanda Welch, DVM, Richmond Hill Animal Hospital, will administer the vaccinations. Pembroke
The city of Pembroke will hold a workshop on Monday, April 19, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss water/sewer items and other necessary items.
This meeting is o pen to the public.

Poppy drive
Please help the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 164 (Pembroke) help the veterans of your area. Support them with their Poppy Drive and wear a poppy to show your support. Look for auxiliary members at local businesses on April 23 and April 24, or call Susie Magee (President) at 429-3741. The auxiliary thanks you in advance for your support.

Chamber
The North Bryan Chamber of Commerce will hold an open house at its new location at 18 E. Bacon St. from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Wednesday, April 21. Members and guests are invited to drop in and visit the chamber. In addition, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at noon. Call 653-2244 for more information.
