Moravian Love Feast

The Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church will host the Moravian Love Feast On Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. for all those persons interested in experiencing this celebration of Christian unity.

The traditional Moravian Love Feast celebrates the birth of Christ through scripture reading and prayer, the singing of hymns, the lighting of candles, and the serving of Moravian buns and coffee.

Christmas Love Feasts held across the country draw visitors by the hundreds and thousands. Year after year people come, eager for that moment when the sanctuary lights are dimmed, and the beeswax candles are distributed and lighted. Like the bread and cups of coffee, these candles are passed down the pew from hand to hand, one at a time, until the sanctuary is aglow in God’s light.

Those who attend the Moravian Christmas Love Feasts are encouraged to, "...let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and give glory to the Father who is in heaven." A children’s nursery will be provided. For more information, please feel free to contact the church at 756-2339.
