Soft leather and fabrics as well as soft skin are where it’s at this fall, and businesses in Richmond Hill are offering advice on style and beauty to inspire you to look and feel your best as temperatures drop and the holidays approach.
Catherine “Cat” Garrido, the owner of the Milan Day Spa at Villages on the Hill, recommended an ultimate manicure and pedicure, which uses warm paraffin wax and a rich marine mask to get the maximum moisturizing effect into hands and feet before nail polish is applied.
Turning to the closet, Stella Rose Clothing & More Boutique owner Carol Braden suggested natural materials and neutral colors and more for the season.
“Leather jackets, boots, pants and belts in brown, black and a variety of neutral shades are a reoccurring theme this season,” she said.
“Update your denim this year with jeans in a variety of colors, straight, skinny and flares. And bold patterns and great layering necklaces will give you that ‘wow’ factor.”
Meanwhile, Kylie Phillips from Stella Rose said shoppers should “look for a higher rise flare leg jean reminiscent of the ’70s and ‘Charlie’s Angels.’”
“The large selection of prints and lace around this year also fit with the 1970s vibe,” she added.
Everyone wants to make sure they put back some of the skin’s moisture that the summer sun and fun has taken away. Kelly Damon, head of massage services at Milan Spa, offered advice for battling dry skin.
“At this time of year, a lot of our clients are concerned about coping with their dry skin as the seasons change,” she said.
“We offer an exclusive moisturizing body treatment – our luxurious ‘Dead Sea Escape.’ After a dry exfoliation to remove all the dead skin, a rich body mask is applied to the body, and a steam canopy ensures that your skin absorbs all of the goodness from the Dead Sea mask.
“A scalp massage and cool towels keep you comfortable and relaxed while this treatment works,” she continued. “And it is followed by a warm shower and your choice of a Swedish or deep tissue full-body massage.”
Braden and Phillips shared more hot style tips for the fall.
“Sleeves are a real point of interest right now, whether they are drop shoulder, dolman or fitted,” Braden said.
“And don’t forget your leather boots or perfect kiltie shoe to complete the fall look,” Phillips noted.
Garrido also suggested folks take time out for themselves.
“People can get stressed and busy as the holiday season approaches, so we recommend planning regular grooming and ‘me time,’” she said.
“Our new online scheduling at www.milansalondayspa.com is very popular – whatever time of day or night it is, you can go online and make your appointment with your preferred therapist.”
