ATLANTA — The University System of Georgia reports that systemwide enrollment has set a record this fall.

The system's enrollment report shows 318,027 students signed up for the fall, an increase of 6,585 students, or 2.1 percent, from the fall of 2010.

Officials released the numbers on Wednesday in the System's fall semester enrollment report, which tracks enrollment by individual institution and other factors such as race, gender, age, resident and non-Georgia resident and scholastic class. The report offers a detailed view of how the student body has grown and changed.

The report shows that growth over the past year was not even. Enrollment increased at 23 institutions and decreased at 12, dropping primarily at state and two-year colleges.

Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville topped the charts with a 43.9 percent increase.
