Two Bryan County schools were recently recognized for their efforts in the Jump Rope for Heart program that raises funds for medical research and educational materials throughout the state.

G.W. Carver Elementary School and Richmond Hill Elementary School are among the top 10 schools of 800 that participated in the Jump Rope for Heart Program. Carver, under the direction of physical education/health teacher Christy Crowley, took fourth place by raising $28,085, and Richmond Hill Elementary, under the direction of physical education/health teacher Darcy Blakewood, took seventh place with $25,989.

Additionally, Blakewood was named Outstanding JRFH Coordinator of the Year by the Georgia Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
