Two schools honor local students

STATESBORO — Georgia Southern University recently recognized 1,340 students for academics on the 2016 spring semester president’s list.

Students on the list include:

From Ellabell: Sierra Cowart, Sasha Diederich, Sean Melchert, Tyler Poythress and Antigone Walker.

From Pembroke: Ashlyn Avera, Kaitlin Bennett, Don Faulk, Meredith Hagin. Jeffrey Lewis, Jessica Newton and Laura Wiggins.

From Richmond Hill: Victoria Barrett, Kaitlin Baylie, Madison Bocook, Daniel Burer, Marcie DeMond, Erin Emerson, Darrell Fullmer, Bridget Gompper, Sarah Inglesby, Paul Lascuna, Zoe Mapes, Sean McQueeney, John Mikrut, Stephanie Miller, Ashley O’Neal Andy Pham, Shirley Senefeld and Zoe Slater.

To be eligible for the list, a student must have at least a 4.0 GPA and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

Georgia State honors

ATLANTA — Kaitlyn Baker of Richmond Hill was named to the president’s list for spring 2016 at Georgia State University. To be eligible, degree-seeking students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 must earn a 4.00 GPA for the semester and complete at least nine semester hours of academic credit with no incompletes.
